Totally irregular blog on computers and security

What I use

Inspired by various other blogs, here’s a list of all the stuff I “use”, be it hardware or software.

Software

Here is my current software stack. I try to use the same software on all my computing devices, as much as possible.

  • Operating System: NixOS (although this server still runs Debian), Linux Mint for my gaming PC
  • Text editor: Neovim
  • Terminal emulator: Wezterm
  • Web browser: Mozilla Firefox
  • IRC Client: senpai, Goguma on iOS
  • IRC Bouncer: soju, with senpai running in a tmux instance and a highlight script to get alerts on my phone

My emails are hosted by Migadu, a small company based in Switzerland.

Hardware

My personal laptop is a second-hand Thinkpad X230 (the same one that had Supervisor password issues!). It has:

  • 8GB of RAM
  • 500GB of SSD
  • an Intel Core i5-3360M

It dual-boots NixOS and macOS, but that’s just for the lulz.

My desktop PC sports:

I’ve recently moved it to a Fractal North case, which I recommend wholeheartedly (it’s spacious, and has tons of nice features).

My keyboard is a Ducky One 3 TKL Matcha (MX Browns), because Ducky are the only ones who make affordable, nice, AZERTY mechanical keyboards. My mouse is an MX Master (first of its name). For headphones, I use DT 770 Pros; I’m not an audiophile, but these are very confortable and feel solid, which is what I’m looking for in headphones. The cord is also great, because it means I don’t have to think about charging them!
